Many people are frightened by the state of the world and our visions for the future. There is no question that we are watching the unraveling of an old system. Beneath the headlines, however, new life is germinating. You just can’t see it until you adjust your eyes. All growth involves breaking down before the new can arise and take its place. The caterpillar dissolves into liquid inside the chrysalis – a total breakdown of its former self, before it rebuilds into the butterfly.
From the storm, I saw an energy emerge that would take power – not the names of the actual leaders, but the nature of their power. It was revealed to me in the form of a hieroglyph that I actually had to look up on the Internet to identify. It was the symbol of Pluto, the Roman God of the Underworld, a.k.a. Hades, his Greek counterpart, God of Death, authoritative power, and ruler of the darkness. Next to it was a small flower, symbol of virtue and of new life, which, if we are to understand the Greek myth of Hades, the flower stands for Percephone, the Goddess of Springtime, Hades stole away from the earth and held captive in the underworld.
Spirit was reminding me of this ancient Greek myth as a way of explaining the direction our world is going. In the interim, we need to be stronger and more than ever we need to listen to our soul’s guidance.
